Madam Speaker: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the U.S. Speaker of the House

Tuesday, Madam Speaker joined Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, House and Senate Democratic Policy and Communications Committee Chairs and Moms Rising to share stories of what the historic tax relief from the Biden Child Tax Credit means to working families. On Wednesday, Madam Speaker and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy hosted a reception honoring the appointment of House Sergeant at Arms General William Walker. That afternoon, the Speaker joined House Democrats to sign and send The VOCA Fix to Sustain the Crime Victims Fund Act of 2021 to President Biden to become law. Thursday morning, Madam Speaker held her weekly press conference in the U.S. Capitol. In the afternoon, the Speaker welcomed His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan back to the U.S. Capitol, along with Her Majesty Queen Rania and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, before a bipartisan leadership meeting.

The Crimes Victims Fund is a lifeline serving millions of victims & survivors, including children. This bipartisan and bicameral legislation supports these vital victim service programs by preventing future cuts to already diminished federal victim service grants and bringing relief and resources to those in need.
