On Monday, Madam Speaker held a photo opportunity with His Excellency Reuven Rivlin, President of the State of Israel, before a bipartisan leadership meeting. Tuesday, Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats held a bill enrollment ceremony for three Congressional Review Act (CRA) Disapproval Resolutions to reverse the damage inflicted on families’ health & financial security by the last Administration. Wednesday, Madam Speaker joined Chairman Peter DeFazio, Chairman Frank Pallone and House Democrats for a press conference ahead of House passage of H.R. 3684, the INVEST in America Act — a transformative, jobs-creating package that seizes this once-in-a-century opportunity to rebuild our infrastructure and puts equity front and center. That afternoon, ahead of debate and remarks on the House Floor regarding a Select Committee to investigate January 6th, Madam Speaker hosted law enforcement officers to show appreciation for their heroic defense of the Capitol as well as their continued service. Thursday morning, Madam Speaker held her weekly press conference today in the Capitol Visitor Center and announced the Members who will serve on the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol. Immediately after, Speaker Pelosi, the Democratic Women’s Caucus, House Democrats and care advocates gathered for a press event in the Rayburn Room to highlight the importance of investing in our care economy through President Biden’s American Families Plan.

Take a look at this week’s behind-the-scenes photos:

By these acts of Congress, we are reasserting the power of the People’s House to deliver For The People, reclaiming the authority under the Constitution and upholding the balance of power. With these actions, Democrats continue to advance the public’s interest, not special interests.

It is clear that January 6th was not simply an attack on a building, but on our very democracy: an attack on the peaceful transfer of power. It is imperative that we find the truth of that day and ensure that such an assault on our Capitol and Democracy cannot ever again happen.

The Democratic women in Congress are relentless and persistent on behalf of America’s working families. We won’t be finished until we do what we are responsible to do for our children, for their families, for their caregivers. When women succeed, America succeeds.
