On Monday morning, Madam Speaker sat down with the National Association of Counties’ First Vice President Larry Johnson at the National Convention Center during their annual conference to discuss the power of counties in advancing progress for communities & advocating for green infrastructure in a bipartisan way. That afternoon, Madam Speaker hosted Brooklyn, New York Borough President Eric Adams at the United States Capitol to discuss House Democrats’ actions to curb the daily tragedy of gun violence in America. On Thursday, Speaker Pelosi joined Representatives Jimmy Gomez, Judy Chu, Karen Bass and advocates at the Los Angeles Barrio Action Youth and Family Center to celebrate the first payments of the Biden Child Tax Credit, life-changing payments for working families nationwide included in Democrats’ American Rescue Plan. Speaker Pelosi and Members of a Congressional delegation traveled to San Diego from Friday to Saturday to participate in the Christening Ceremony of the USNS John Lewis at the General Dynamics NASSCO Shipyard in honor of the late Congressman John Lewis of Georgia one year after his passing.
