Madam Speaker: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the U.S. Speaker of the House (75th anniversary of the D-Day visit to France Edition)
Last week, Speaker Pelosi led the largest-ever bipartisan congressional delegation for a four-day visit to France to mark the 75th anniversary of the D-Day invasion.

Day 1:
The morning of June 6, 2019, the bipartisan delegation led by Speaker Pelosi visited the American Cemetery in Normandy, France. In the evening, the congressional delegation joined French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau & other allied nation leaders for the#DDay75thAnniversary International Ceremony and wreath-laying at Juno Beach to honor troops who fought for freedom.
“Seventy-five years ago, the world witnessed one of the greatest acts of heroism in human history, as brave soldiers stormed the beaches of Normandy from the ground, sea and air and changed the world forever.”
Day 2:
Early in the morning, the bipartisan congressional delegation was received by the Marine detachment at the U.S. Embassy in Paris. After, they visited the French National Assembly where they exchanged commemorative resolutions in honor of the Allied Forces on #DDay.
Day 3:
The bipartisan congressional delegation visited the Suresnes American Cemetery where they laid a wreath to honor the memory of our soldiers & volunteers who made the ultimate sacrifice in World War I & World War II.
Day 4:
The congressional delegation, to conclude their visit, spent time with World War II veterans and their families while witnessing parachutists fill the sky at the Saint Mere-Eglise International Military Static Line Jump Ceremony in honor of all the men and women whose courage changed the course of history forever.
